Diane Abbott: 'Labour can't support welfare cuts'

Labour MP Diane Abbott says she doesn't think the party can support welfare cuts that will "force tens of thousands of children into poverty".

Speaking to the programme after acting leader Harriet Harman said Labour would not oppose Conservative plans in the Budget to limit child tax credits to the first two children, Abbott added needed to have a debate as party and come to a united position on the matter.

"These cuts are targeted at low-paid working families and children – we can’t support that," she said.
