Ben Cooper on Apple鈥檚 latest challenge to music radio

One of the biggest challenges to music radio is launched by Apple later today.

Their new app called 鈥楢pple Music鈥� will stream music online 24 hours a day. And it鈥檚 gone even further and created a radio station.

Former Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe will host the first programme on Beats One.

Drake, Pharrell and Sir Elton John will all present shows.

成人快手 Radio 1 and 1Xtra Controller Ben Cooper accepted that Apple had changed the way we live our lives, but said: "They鈥檙e not going to crush us 鈥� this is a good thing for the radio industry."

鈥淩adio 1 breaks British music - I don鈥檛 believe Apple can do that as well as Radio 1,鈥� he said, citing Florence and the Machine as an example.

The authenticity of Radio 1鈥檚 presenters was another of its selling points, he added.
