A farming family history – Ian and Matthew
Ian and Matthew are father and son.
They live and work on a farm in Topsham.
The family moved there in 1905.
Farming is the family business and has been for generations.
Now it's a mixed farm with sheep in the winter, cows in the summer and sales of barley to other local farmers.
The farm also has a classroom so welcomes school visits too, as well as campers on its riverside campsite.
Matthew (10) has grown up on the farm, so knows a lot about tractors, although he's not keen on the idea of robot tractors.
He doesn't like scarecrows either.
But he loves the farm (possibly more than his XBox) and hopes it will have a sheepdog soon.
Neither his mum, dad nor sister know how Dave (the ginger cat) will react to that.
Will the farm and its history be safe in Matthew’s hands?
