Ndaizivei and Sekai - Being Strong
Sekai has always had a close relationship with her grandmother Ndaizivei, who was born and brought up in what was then Rhodesia and now Zimbabwe. As a child affected by the 'colour-bar' Ndaizivei was aware of politics from a very young age, and faced many difficulties soon after she was married when her husband, a political activist, was placed under restriction in prison. It was 5 years before they escaped to the UK with Sekai's infant mother as political exiles. During their conversation, Sekai was in awe of her grandmother's stoicism.
