Robert shares a conversation with Sister Bruce, the Nursing Sister who cared for him after a serious house fire. Sister Bruce lives in Kelso, a beautiful village in the Scottish Borders. Robert lives in Livingston. Elizabeth retired several years ago, but never forgot Robert - one of her favourite patients. When he was 3-years old, a gas explosion occured in Robert's home, resulting in a serious house fire. His sister sadly died and Robert lost several fingers and suffered disfigurement to most of his body. Sister Bruce ran the Burns ward in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh and saw a lot of Robert over the next few years. His cheeky persona made him a staff favourite. Sister Bruce was tough but kind. She didn't always let Robert get away with things, but she was very aware of how difficult life would be. After losing touch for several years, Robert called Sister Bruce unexpectedly and they rekindled their friendship. She still keeps a watchful eye on him and worries about his welfare, and he still comes to her when he needs a bit of support and guidance.
