The election saw a huge swathe of new MPs from varied backgrounds. In Parliament there will be a record 191 women MPs, 42 won't be white and fewer will be privately educated.
The SNP won 56 seats in the election with the overwhelming majority new MPs. Andrew Wilson, pictured right, is a former SNP MSP and former advisor to Alex Salmond. he told Today:
鈥淭his is a sophisticated governing party now in Scotland, you鈥檇 think to listen to some of the extreme coverage in the London media that it was the Taliban that were coming over the border鈥.
When asked if the SNP would raise the issue of independence again Wilson added: 鈥淚 don鈥檛 think there鈥檚 appetite in the country to go again (for a referendum).鈥
Mure Dickie, pictured centre, is Scotland correspondent for the Financial Times. He told Today:
'The (SNP) candidates that I鈥檝e spoken to are very aware they can鈥檛 be seen as wreckers, their voters don鈥檛 want them to be going down to spoil things or to make independence look better'.
Dickie added: 鈥淏ut there鈥檚 clearly a lot of dissatisfaction with the way the UK works鈥 this is an opportunity for the establishment to take stock and see how we can make the UK work better and be more appealing.鈥
