Nihal discovers music can change how food tastes
We've all heard of having a taste in music, but research has found listening to different music while eating can affect how it tastes.
Scientists have described the phenomenon as 'digital seasoning.' They tell us that the pleasure of eating can be enhanced by playing the right kind of music, and that music can even trick the mind into thinking food tastes different.
Nihal tried out the experiment live on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ 5 live and discovered chocolate can taste different while listening to contrasting music.
Professor Barry Smith was involved in the research and is from the Centre for the Study of the Senses at the University of London.
He said "the main thing is that you notice a change and that's because you're using sound as one of the accompaniments to the whole experience."
Nihal admitted afterwards that they tasted different.
