Dual Internationals

Clara Hughes only athlete to win multiple Olympic medals at both Summer & Winter Games.

In England, a collective eye brow was raised, earlier this year, when an Ashes winning Cricketer announced he was moving into Football management.

Former Fast Bowler, Steve Harmison, who took 226 Test wickets, took over at his local club Ashington at the start of February. They play in the 9th tier of the English game, where Harmison's team has been putting a run together - winning their last four matches.

Now, Steve got us thinking - why should we be so surprised when an Elite sportsman or woman shows that they're good enough to excel in more than one discipline? In Harmison's case, comparisons were made with Cricketers who were also Footballers, once a great tradition - but with few current examples. There are those elite athletes who compete in one sport, then retire and are tempted to try another, like runners taking up bobsled, as we saw at last year's Winter Olympics, but then there are the much rarer examples of those who successfully juggle the demands of two sports throughout their career.

Clara Hughes is the only athlete in history to win multiple Olympic medals at both the Summer and Winter Games. Her sports were Cycling and Speed Skating, so which one did she try first?
