Micro surgeon who made history with penis transplant

A team of South African surgeons has performed the world's first successful penis transplant in a nine-hour operation conducted in a Cape Town hospital.

The patient lost his penis after developing gangrene following a "ritual circumcision", a malady which is apparently common in South Africa.

Prof Frank Graewe, the reconstructive surgeon who did the micro-surgery in the operation, said the procedure "wasn't that difficult" and explained there is now a "waiting list" of men wanting a transplant of their own.
