My fiancee lost limbs and mouth, but 'we get on with it'
A woman whose fiancee lost all four limbs and part of his nose and mouth after a life-threatening infection, says they have both learned to "get on" with things.
Alex Lewis, 34, thought he was suffering from "manflu," before he was struck down with streptococcal infection (type A) which triggered blood poisoning.
The father-of-one's mouth, nose and limbs became black and gangrenous, and all had to be removed. But none of that stopped Alex, and fiancee Lucy Townsend, from carrying on.
"There is no sympathy at home," Lucy said. "We just get on with it."
Alex added, "It has been the best way to deal with it, for me... I'm still the same person... I now will live the most fascinating and interesting life."
