'Mad Friday' is a 'sad indictment of our society'
Ambulance services and A&E department resources are stretched to the limit as the busiest night of the year for Christmas parties lives up to it's name as "Mad Friday".
Doctor David Macklin is an emergency doctor who worked on the night of Mad Friday and said "it is frustrating" when there are "people who genuinely need the life saving care that ambulance clinicians can provide".
He adds that extra staff and vehicles are increased but "there is only so much we can do with a finite amount of resources."
