Coping with Loss: One Cricket Team's Story
The death of Phillip Hughes echoes that of young South African player Darryn Randall. He was killed in 2013 after being hit by a ball in a similar fashion. The bowler was a young man called Mbulelo Budaza – who was in the same position as Sean Abbott is in today.
Budaza has since gone on to move up to the first class game and is playing at the moment for Border. His coach at the Academy where he was based when the accident happened was former South African fast bowler Mfuneko Ngam. He's been telling Sportshour how the team and Budaza coped.
NB Because of the poor quality of the phone line, Ngam's words are spoken by a Sportshour producer.
