The Grand Hotel, Folkestone: Second 成人快手 for the King of Belgium
Folkestone is rich in World War One history. Just about everyone involved in the war departed from the port, and ferry companies in the town even ran battlefield tours for tourists.
At the centre of the town stands The Grand Hotel on the Leas, home to many of the officers and men who tasted their last English breakfast before leaving for the front, and which also served as a field hospital for some of the wounded coming home. Even the King of Belgium, forced to flee the advancing Germans, took refuge here.
Today, Folkestone is proud of its role in WW1 and in the centenary year a memorial arch is being unveiled at the top of the Leas marking the spot where soldiers started their final march on British soil before heading over the Channel to fight.
