Machine Gun Etiquette - Classic Album of the Day
Steve is joined by Captain Sensible to talk about The Damned's third album, Machine Gun Etiquette, in a very special Classic Album of the Day.
Steve Lamacq hosts the return of the Classic Album of the Day. Throughout the daytime shows on 成人快手 Radio 6 Music tracks from the seminal 70's album, Machine Gun Etiquette by The Damned, have been played. 6 Music celebrates and dissects this genre defining album, culminating in an in depth interview by Steve with Captain Sensible, the founder of The Damned.
Machine Gun Etiquette was released in 1979, and was instantly recognised as a cult classic. Captain Sensible takes us back to the recording of the album and tells stories of being next door to The Clash as they recorded London's Calling. He recalls what it was like growing up in Croydon in the 70's, knowing Marc Bolan and the rise of the punk movement.
This is the first of a three part installment where Steve Lamacq looks at classic albums. Machine Gun Etiquette from the 70's, an important album of the 80's on August 27th, and on September 3rd Steve will be speaking to Liam Howlett of The Prodigy, to discuss the era defining album, Music For The Jilted Generation.
Previous Classic Album of the Day's have included The Verve's Urban Hymns, De La Soul's 3 Feet High and Rising and Gary Numan's Replicas, it's a feature held for the highest achieving of record, not just by commercial success but by cultural impact.
