Nigeria and Yemen
Tomi Oladipo on the ebola outbreak in west Africa and its impact on Nigeria; Mai Noman on arranged marriages in Yemen involving siblings which can end up being arranged divorces.
The world is discussing ebola. The death toll, how contagious it is, the brave doctors, nurses and other health workers trying to treat people - some paying the ultimate price for their courage and compassion. And whilst currently concentrated in west Africa, how far across the globe might it spread? Questions which Tomi Oladipo once thought he would not have to worry about.
In Yemen it has been a custom in some areas for a brother and sister to marry a sister and brother from another family. It can work well with two families becoming very close to each other. But it can also lead to very unhappy situations because what happens if one of the couples starts having problems and gets divorced? As Mai Noman explains, in those circumstances the pressures can build on the other couple.
