Same sex marriage welcomed by campaigners
The rules about marriage changed last weekend. Now same-sex couples are able to get married in Britain in the same way as women and men.
However the change has not come without controversy. Many religious figures have objected, stating marriage is defined as being between a man and a woman.
On the other hand, it has been a giant step forward for the LGBT community. Maryam Din is a campaigner on gay issues in Nottingham and although she welcomes this change, she still feels that there is much more to be done. In this extract she speaks to ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Nottingham’s Kaval Vaseer…
