Tanzania and Ecuador
Martin Fletcher meets a poacher turned gamekeeper (who now weeps for dead rhino) near the Serengeti; Will Grant meets up again with a former inmate turned DJ in Quito
Two tales of personal redemption, from Latin America and Africa, introduced by Pascale Harter. In Tanzania, near the Serengeti National Park, Martin Fletcher meets a gamekeeper who knows the bush and its wildlife inside out - because he spent 25 years of his life as a poacher. Now Juma Nanai is a man who weeps for rhinos who die before their time - and he might be a living example of the best way to save Africa's endangered species. And in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, Will Grant meets up again with a face from his British past - from London's Brixton Prison, to be exact. Will worked on a project to get inmates producing their own radio programmes, and Danny had an optimistic outlook, an infectious laugh and a warm baritone voice made for presenting. Soon he was a prison DJ - so what's he up to now, after finishing his sentence and returning home?
