Live music in Herefordshire & Worcestershire

Live music in Herefordshire & Worcestershire

For the ninth year running, throughout the whole of December and continuing into the new year, we won't be playing a single CD, MP3, tape or vinyl - because we're giving you the music you won't be able to get anywhere else on the planet.

In 2013, we continued to take the show on-the-road to some of the biggest events and most happening places in the two counties.

None of these artists knew they were being considered for these opportunities - they were chosen based on the tracks they sent into the .

This week, hear some of the performances we recorded at.

Marden's Dave Evans is a solo singer/songwriter with pop/rock leanings who works as a tutor.

He's played the guitar and provided vocals in many covers bands over the years, including Wheels - who opened for Pink Floyd.

He says: "It's time to get my own songs out there and hope people like them enough to buy the tracks and other people cover those songs!".

Tonight he's joined in session with record label-mate Natalie Hall.

It was the final town in Worcestershire we'd not visited since we started taking the show out on-the-road in 2001 - so it was time to change all that!

On a cold, dark, autumn Sunday night at the end of November, we rolled up next to Pershore railway station to record at Tower Studios - who've just completed a 48-hour "drumathon" for charity.

The five acts on stage blew us away - so be prepared for some top tunes as we head you through the festive season!

George Barnett session

George Barnett session

What a year it's been for Leominster's George Barnett!

First off, we passed his track .

We then decided to showcase him on - and two weeks beforehand he released a cover of Daft Punk's Get Lucky which has now had 8 million views on YouTube.

He then put out Animal Keeper - - and got .

He's just been in London meeting up with various label bosses and playing a number of venues in the capital - where he joined who discovered George has been playing keys since he was three!

Make some noise!

Make some noise!

For three weeks, we're finding out - how loud is too loud?

We're told anything over 100dB is likely to cause perminent ear damage - but just how loud is that?

We've teamed up with the for a band vs hearing sound-off!

How can you protect your ears - without compromising your enjoyment of sound?

Tom Dixon is an audiologist and hearing protection specialist and was listening to our live session in Kington - and he's on this week's show.
