How a rare 600-year-old jug worth 拢750,000 was stolen
Karen Perkins, Director of Art and Museums at Luton Culture speaks about the bronze medieval Wenlok Jug stolen from a Bedfordshire museum in 2012. The item has been recovered and the thief convicted, but the jug is damaged and not on show. The theft of artworks from museums, private galleries or historic buildings is valued at an estimated 拢300m a year; although the true figure could be much higher because only a fraction of art thefts are ever reported. The Wenlok Jug is associated with royalty from the 1400s and is a "nationally significant" item.
