Trusting the Land
What is the best way of producing food to feed the world's seven billion people? Manuela Saragosa and guests discuss from the midst of the Irish national ploughing championships.
We are down on a farm on a visit to one of Europe's biggest agricultural trade shows in County Laois, Ireland. Against the background of the country's national ploughing championships, Manuela Saragosa and guests put our dependence on the land under the spotlight. Duck farmer Stuart Steele and beef farmer Edmond Phelan join chef Darina Allen and food writer Ella McSweeney to discuss whether we can trust the food we eat. We ask what sort of farms we'd need to feed the world's seven billion people. And if you're wondering what happens at a ploughing festival, our regular commentator Colm O'Regan takes on the role of roving reporter to bring the scene to life.
