Leicester: Scattering ashes
The search is on for waterside locations in Leicester where people can scatter the ashes of their loved ones. Hindus, Sikhs and Jains all share the ceremonial ritual of casting the cremated remains of relatives into flowing water, usually a river.
However it has been hard for those who live in Leicester to observe this act of consecration as there has never been an officially recognised place on the River Soar where it can be performed.
Sundip Megahni was one of the city councillors who met to discuss the issue and agreed to look at a number of potential waterside spots in Leicester. In this extract he joins ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Leicester’s Kamlesh Purohit ….
