The British and Irish governments entered into an agreement in November 1985 that gave Dublin a greater say in the affairs of Northern Ireland. British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher aimed to marginalise Sinn F茅in and the IRA by engaging moderate nationalists and enlisting the support of the Irish government. UDA member John Gregg labelled it "another sell out" and Ian Paisley was again at the forefront of unionist resistance.
