Polluted Cities
A report says pollution could be claiming millions more lives across the world's cities, unless we take action. And the demise of the office desk phone - should we be mourning it?
Deadly fumes are on the rise. An OECD report says pollution could be claiming millions more lives across the world's cities, unless we take urgent action now. We hear from Simon Upton, the organisation's environment director, and from Beijing, Delhi and Mexcio City, where the problem is already beginning to severely affect people's lives. And we hear from Karen Wiegert, the head of sustainability for the city of Chicago which is hailed for doing more than most cities to tackle its pollution problem. Finally, Lucy Kellaway of the FT meditates on the demise of the office desk phone, wondering if we should be mourning its passing.
