Making porridge
Pupils and classroom assistant from Loreburn Primary in Dumfries try their hand at making porridge, a staple food in the time of Robert Burns. They also taste porridge with some modern toppings including chocolate, jam and syrup and choose their own favourites. They share some of the ways their own families make porridge. Excerpts from some of Burns’ poems in which porridge features are read, including "The Shepherd’s Wife" read by Alison Peebles and "The Cotter’s Saturday Night" read by Tom Fleming.
