Arthur Scargill and the Miners' Strike

The UK miner's strike of the mid 1980s was in support of better pay and to protest about pit closures. The action was led by Arthur Scargill, president of the National Union of Mineworkers, and people who supported him travelled the country protesting. The strike was called off in 1985 when half of the workers returned to work.
