Sarah's hopes for a great afternoon of races on the cliffs are dashed when her schoolgirls cross paths with Carne. One of his prized stallions has just broken his back in a hunting accident and Carne has to make the difficult decision to end his pain and shoot him. The sound of the gun sends the nearby girls into a state of hysteria. Carne is furious with Sarah but she refuses to apologise, defending their right to be there.
