Stephen Johnson explores the varied moods and impressions conveyed by Sibelius in two of his greatest tone poems. The Oceanides is a haunting seascape inspired by his first Atlantic crossing. Pohjola's Daughter is a vivid fantasy inspired by one of the legends from the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala. The musical examples and performances are provided by the 成人快手 Philharmonic, conducted by Tecwyn Evans.
