Elma Wickins visits Greyabbey graveyard
Liam Logan heads to Greyabbey where he’s joined in the graveyard by Elma Wickins.
Together, they visit some historic graves including: one in memory of the McCartan family; one to hanged clergyman, Reverend James Porter; the poetic headstone of Jean Hay; and the Bell grave where there’s a showbiz connection as these are ancestors of the actress Hayley Mills.
The Byers grave contains members of the Byers family mentioned in WG Lyttle’s ‘Betsy Gray & the Hearts of Down’. (Broadcast: 7 Apr 2007)
