Fun and events at the Broadisland Gathering
Liam Logan is in Ballycarry, between Whitehead and Larne, home of Ireland’s first Presbyterian minister who came over from Scotland in 1613 - Reverend Edward Brice.
Each year, the community organise an event called ‘The Broadisland Gathering’ to reflect on their history and heritage - and at this, the 14th Gathering, Liam meets organiser David Hume who discusses Ballycarry’s connections with Scotland and tells Liam about the townland banner procession.
Liam chats to the lively caterers at the event and there’s some music from the Major Sinclair Memorial Band. (Broadcast: 17 Sep 2006)
