Back where they belong
A male great bustard displays, and Chris Packham describes it as looking like a vicar in a tutu. The Great Bustard Group has been doing a long-standing reintroduction programme. They have released some bustards onto Salisbury Plain, fitted with radio-trackers. The birds were imported from Russia. Chris got a call with some good news, so he went to meet Dave and Lynne to find out more: the great bustards have chicks. These are the first British-born great bustards in 177 years. 1832 was the last time a chick was seen in Britain. Lynne discovered the chicks. The mother is called Custard, so these two chicks have been named Rhubarb and Crumble.
