Battling bison
The annual rut is about to take place in the Badlands of North America and the male bisons are beginning to look for the females on heat. They walk in parallel assessing each other's strength. Pumped up with testosterone, the males paw at the ground and roll in their urine to make themselves smell strongly of their hormones. A combination of rolling and roaring is a clear sign that there will be a fight. Most contests are quickly resolved, but some escalate into full scale battle. Attacks are usually head on, at full gallop the impact is titanic: one tonne moving at 30 miles per hour meeting another coming in the opposite direction. It's pure luck to escape a fatal stabbing.
