Used to being hunted, these birds like to keep about 200m space between them and people. With no available natural cover, the cameraman built a hide and let the birds get used to it for a few days. Getting into the hide undetected, meant crossing a marsh in darkness, then waiting 6 hours until the birds showed up and wandered within range of the telephoto lens.
