Renee Rosnes’ 4/4

The premier Canadian pianist shares some of the records inspire her.

‘Round Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.

Soweto’s guest this week for 4/4 is the first-rate Canadian pianist Renee Rosnes. Renee has worked with fellow jazz virtuosos including Joe Henderson, Wayne Short, James Moody, and Bobby Hutcherson, and was a founding member of SF Jazz’s prestigious SFJAZZ Collective. Renee regularly tours with Ron Carter’s band, is the musical director for all-star ensemble ARTEMIS, and is also a formidable bandleader.

From Monday to Thursday, Renee will be taking us round her record collection, selecting some of the albums that have impacted her.

To begin her week, Renee chooses a live track by three jazz greats.
