Women of the Easter Story
To celebrate the start of Holy Week, the Rev Kate Bottley discovers how three modern-day Christians have been inspired by the remarkable women of the Easter story.
To celebrate the start of Holy Week, the Rev Kate Bottley travels to Southwell Minster to learn how three modern-day Christians have been inspired by the remarkable women of the Easter story.
Kate meets textile artist Jacqui Parkinson, whose spectacular exhibition of reimagined scenes from the Bible is touring cathedrals around the UK. Jacqui reflects on her work and how she takes inspiration from the remarkable story of the unnamed woman who poured perfume on Jesus鈥 feet. Kate also meets the Rev Dawn Knight, who has travelled to Southwell Minster to see the exhibition. She tells Kate how artists鈥 depictions of Mary holding Jesus鈥 body after the crucifixion helped with her healing after the tragic loss of her own son.
And we hear from Kim Gardener, who explains how she identifies with Mary Magdalene. After a tough start in life and problems with addiction, Kim found faith and now Mary Magdalene's relationship with Jesus inspires her work at a Christian charity. With hymns to celebrate Holy Week.
