Monty Panesar v Simon Weston
Simon Weston and Monty Panesar join Tim Medhurst and Roo Irvine for a jolly jaunt in south west Wales. The car of choice is a 1960 Morris Oxford.
We’re in the stunning scenery of south west Wales with British army veteran and charity champion Simon Weston, and former England International cricketer Monty Panesar. The gents have the powder blue 1960 Morris Oxford to nip about the green, green grass of the Welsh countryside in, guided by our resident coin expert Tim Medhurst and Roo Irvine, the savvy dealer with a penchant for jewels and glassware.
Simon and Roo discover they have a shared love for shiny things, buying a garnet ring, some art glass, technicolour coffee spoons, a delicate filigree card case and an exquisite green glass scent bottle. On the other side, Monty and Tim enjoy a bromance. If Tim’s not teaching Monty about the world of antiques, Monty is giving Tim a masterclass in cricket. Amongst their bevy of buys, they manage to find a signed cricket bat from 1955 and a little mid-century ‘How To…’ cricket booklet, which Monty tries hard to increase in value.
The gang also squeeze in a visit to Swansea to learn about the extraordinary sport of boccia, a Paralympic sport that transcends physical limitations, offering a stage to athletes of varying disabilities. This competitive gang have a go of this precision game of strategy. And talking of competition, we have a big auction showdown. Both Simon and Monty are in it to win it. Who will triumph?
