Hairdryer, Tea Set, Circus Books

Episode 13 of 30

Nigel Havers presides as five sellers aim to get the best price for their items, including a jet hood dryer, circus books, a teak unit, malachite solitaire and a pink plastic tea set.

Nigel Havers welcomes five more sellers to the Bidding Room, where they try to sell items to professional dealers who are on the lookout for interesting pieces, with help from expert Simon Bower.

First in today is Faith, with a jet hairdryer that looks like it’s straight out of the space age. Picked up from a props store, it was used in her beauty salon as decoration. The chair has characteristics that fall into so many of our dealers’ interests – the real question is, which dealer will make the winning bid?

Next in is ex-circus performer Stephen. He has brought along an entertaining collection of books. The circus books were bought by Stephen over time, to learn more about the history of his craft.

Third in today is Graham, with an A.H. MacIntosh teak unit. With ample furniture dealers to pitch to today, they should all immediately recognise how special this piece is.

Facing the dealers next is Dawn, with a game of malachite solitaire. She picked it up in the early 90s when she was travelling the world in the RAF. Having not played it for years, she is hoping to move it on to someone who can make use of it. Will any of our dealers be keen for a game today?

Last in today is David, with a pink plastic 1940s tea set. It has been in his house for over 40 years and feels it is time for someone else to have it on display. David is hoping to cause a storm in the teacup and get the bids brewing.

The dealers today are Estelle, Ian, Mac, Moses and Lucy.
