Jamie presents a very special ‘East Meets West’ edition, exploring musical collaborations from some of the biggest names in the classical world. Sitarist Anoushka Shankar reflects on previous visits to Scotland and introduces music from her live album ‘Between Us’, featuring Metropole Orkest with Jules Buckley and Manu Delago. We hear the late tabla maestro Zakir Hussain’s Triple Concerto for Concerto for Tabla, Sitar and Bansuri, performed recently in Scotland by the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Fazal Qureshi. Plus Rushil Ranjan, music director of the Orchestral Qawwali Project, tells us about their Scottish connection and shares a track from their live album featuring the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Plus collaborations featuring Ravi Shankar and Philip Glass, Red Note Ensemble and Kuljit Bhamra, and a version of ‘Take Five’, performed by Pakistan’s Sachal Studios Orchestra.
