Episode 9
A British sergeant races to the scene of a crash involving a police motorbike, officers urgently search for a missing 98-year-old, and a constable parties at Bermuda鈥檚 carnival.
Helen McHugh moved from north Wales to Bermuda 14 years ago, recently becoming the island鈥檚 very first female sergeant in the police鈥檚 armed response unit. Helen鈥檚 first job of the day is stepping in to help fellow officers with a man who has been stopped for riding an unlicensed bike. Things become heated when it鈥檚 discovered the motorist also has an outstanding arrest warrant in his name. Despite his passionate pleas not to be arrested, Helen calmly ensures the man is taken down to the police station peacefully. But bigger challenges lie ahead when Helen races with her fellow Brit, Jonathan Wood, to the scene of a crash involving a civilian motorist and a police motorbike. Helen is faced with investigating her own colleague to determine if he was to blame for the collision, but she finds no clear evidence of fault, meaning neither the civilian nor the officer will face being prosecuted for the crash.
Elsewhere on the island, officer Chris Douglas is on patrol with his mentor, PC Carol Skerritt. We follow the duo updating their weathered uniforms at the police warehouse, which contains around $5 million worth of supplies. Later, PC Douglas is seen partying with locals in a much more colourful outfit at Bermuda鈥檚 big annual carnival.
Officers Eddie Smith and Jen Ysseldyke are also on patrol and need to race to a cricket ground, following reports of men acting suspiciously nearby, but when they arrive, the males are nowhere to be seen. The officers decide to maintain a police presence whilst taking in the match. But while most Bermudans love this national obsession, Officer Smith is less than impressed, musing whether cricket is really a sport if you can stop and have a tea break.
Later, British-born officer Jen Suter and her colleague Taye Lambe are on patrol urgently searching for a 98-year-old woman who has been reported missing and confused on the streets of Bermuda. But the police officers eventually track down the pensioner and return her safely home.
