When Stacey Breaks the Rules
Stacey and the team arrive in the nick of time to help a young family just before chaos consumes their home.
The Noel family call on Stacey and her team to help transform their cluttered three-bedroom home in east London. Dee and Aaron saved for years to be able to afford their dream house together. But now, with the addition of their young children, four-year-old Zora and seven-month-old Elias, the clutter is clouding that dream. Stacey challenges the family to let go of half their belongings, paving the way for a beautifully reorganised and functional space.
With the team's help, the family pack all their possessions into boxes, stripping every item from their home to reveal the hidden potential beneath the toys and childhood memories. After working hard to buy their first house together, the demands of parenting and working full-time – combined with a lack of systems to keep their belongings in order – have left their home on the verge of becoming overwhelmed by clutter. Luckily, the gang arrive in the nick of time to challenge the family to let go of half of what they own.
The family’s possessions are displayed in a huge warehouse – an awe-inspiring art installation of their lives, including 49 make-up brushes, 213 CDs and 552 books. As the family struggle to let go of their belongings, we hear about Dee’s longing to give her children the 'perfect' childhood, as well as her recollections of her own time growing up with her great-grandmother. Aaron and Dee pour through the mountain of baby equipment amassed in their short four years of parenting, and they reflect on Elias’s birth that left Dee on bed rest for six months.
Once the most treasured items are selected, Stacey and the team face the challenge of turning their house into a home fit for two parents working full-time, while also supporting Zora starting school and Elias’s transition to his own bedroom. Rob breathes new life into their home with clever carpentry, including the transformation of a garden shed into a sleek, functional home office. Inside, Iwan deep-cleans the home as Dilly installs systems to help the organisation of this busy family.
Will Stacey and her team’s efforts to declutter, organise and upcycle provide the fresh start the Noels have been dreaming of?
