Boogie Woogie pianist Ben Waters performs live in the studio and gives Cerys a demo on the key elements of this sub-genre of blues - can he prove any song can be played in a boogie woogie style, a genre which was popular in the late 1920s?
Ben Waters's heroes include Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, Amos Milburn, and Little Richard. Ben dropped out of school to go on tour with Shakin Stevens and has been devoted ever since. He's worked with Jools Holland, The Rolling Stones, Jeff Beck, Imelda May, and Johnny Depp, and has performed at Glastonbury and Ronnie Scott's, and for Radio 1's John Peel! After meeting Charlie Watts back stage at a Rolling Stones concert, they chatted about Boogie Woogie, which led to a series of gigs and recordings with Charlie, Axel Zwingenberger, and Dave Green under the A,B, C and D of Boogie Woogie.
