The Weekenders, Confessions of a Shinagawa Monkey

Len Pennie speaks to writer David F Ross about his new novel, The Weekenders, the first in a new crime trilogy.

David F Ross was shortlisted for Fiction Book of the Year in the 2021 Scottish Book Awards for his novel, There's Only One Danny Garvey. His seventh book, The Weekenders, is released today.

And a new Scottish and Japanese co-production based on two short stories by acclaimed author Haruki Murakami made its UK premiere this week at Glasgow鈥檚 Tramway. Confessions of a Shinagawa Monkey, which borrows its title from the Murakami short story that inspired it, is performed in English and Japanese, with full bilingual dialogue captioning built into the stage design, and touring with the show. Len talks to one of the production鈥檚 co-creators, Vanishing Point鈥檚 director Matthew Lenton, as well as actor Aisha Goodman.
