60 years on from the Lockwood snub

Today marks 60 years since John Lockwood's report on higher education recommended that a second university in the North be located in Coleraine, and not Derry.

On the 10th February 1965 John Lockwood, an educationalist from England, recommended that Coleraine become the site for the new Ulster University Campus, and not Derry.
The rejection of the site at Magee provoked an angry reaction that resulted in a cross-community campaign, culminating in a motorcade to Stormont. Historian Ken McCormack remembers the fall out.
Also HMOs in Derry, and another chance to hear Muireann Bradley who played in our live room on Friday's Mark Patterson Show.
