Join Sally Magnusson from Holy Trinity Church, St Andrews, for a service of congregational carols, special solo performances and festive readings to start Christmas Day.

成人快手 Scotland鈥檚 watchnight programme, Christmas Celebration, is presented by Sally Magnusson and comes from Holy Trinity Church, St Andrews. The congregation鈥檚 singers are drawn from various churches across Fife. The service will feature a range of Christmas carol classics.

Alongside the congregation, there will be special performances from St Salvator鈥檚 Chapel Choir, children from StAMP children's choir and the celebrated Scottish soloist Susan Hamilton.

Traditional readings come from local school pupils and a prayer from Rev Marion Paton, locum minister of Holy Trinity.

This year鈥檚 service has a coastal communities and nautical theme, and marking the RNLI鈥檚 200th anniversary this year, there鈥檚 a film about the local crew based at Anstruther and a crew member who discusses his faith, volunteer work and a new verse he鈥檚 created for the mariners鈥 hymn Eternal Father Strong to Save.

The second short film celebrates the 鈥榝lying Scotsman鈥, Eric Liddell, who famously refused to run on a Sunday but still won gold at the 1924 Paris Olympics. A century later and in another Olympic year, his daughter, Patricia, remembers her father and his faith. It鈥檚 a story kept alive by the opening scenes of Chariots of Fire, filmed at West Sands, St Andrews.

Christmas Celebration 2024 is a joyous celebration of worship, carols and music to welcome in Christmas Day.
