Emerging from the UK garage scene in the early 2000s, dubstep became a groundbreaking sound, marked by its deep basslines, syncopated rhythms and dark atmospheres. It wasn鈥檛 long before it took over dancefloors around the world, shaping a whole new wave of electronic music.

Pete shares some pivotal tracks from the genre courtesy of the likes of Skream, Benga, Knife Party, Katy B, Artwork, Caspa, Joker, Skrillex and more.

Plus, Mary Anne Hobbs remembers her seminal Radio 1 Breezeblock show Dubstep Warz from 2006 - selecting some essential tracks and we rewind it back to 2013 to revisit a section of dubstep pioneer Mala's Essential Mix.
