What's in Vernon's Vault today?

Bryan Ferry selects the songs that mean the most to him in this week's Tracks Of My Years. Plus the Album and Record Of The Week.

Bryan Ferry chooses the tunes that made him in this week's Tracks Of My Years.

Bryan Ferry dominated the charts in the 1970s and 80s, both as the frontman of his band Roxy Music and as a solo singer. Overall, he’s sold more than 30 million albums and topped the charts with his solo albums ‘Boys and Girls’ and ‘Street Life’.

As well as being a prolific songwriter, Bryan has recorded many cover versions, including standards from the Great American Songbook. He enjoyed a Grammy nomination in 2001 for his album “As Time Goes By’ and has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

His voice and style are legendary: Bryan was once described as 'an art object' who 'should hang in the Tate' by writer Peter York. Kate Bush has said he "was the most exciting singer that she’d heard" and that for her, he "covered the whole emotional spectrum."

Bryan has a new album out which celebrates his immense body of work called ‘Retrospective: Selected Recordings 1973-2023’. It’s an 81 track album marking 50 Years of his music. Excitingly, he also has a new song called ‘Star’, which is his first original song in over a decade.
