Tim Booth, lead singer of 'James' reveals his musical inspirations all this week. Plus, ahead of his show from Normandy marking the D-Day 80th anniversary, Vernon chats to historian Dan Snow.

There's also a new Album and Record Of The Week, a dive into Vernon's Vault and Ten To The Top.

Tim Booth, lead singer and co-founder of indie rock band James who gave us anthems like ‘Sit Down’ and ‘She’s A Star’ selects the songs that shaped his life, in this week's Tracks Of My Years.

James recently celebrated 40 years together but they began when Tim met the future bandmates in the student union cellar bar at Manchester University. They stormed the 1990s with four top ten hits and reunited in 2007 landing five top ten albums.

They’ll be touring their latest album ‘Yummy’ in June, culminating at London’s 02 which will be the first time the band have played the 20,000 capacity venue.

Away from the band Tim has written a novel called ‘When I Died For The First Time’ and has also worked as an actor in ‘Batman Begins’.

His first choice today comes from John Lennon.
