Duane Eddy tribute and Johnnie revisits a chat with Eric Clapton

Johnnie and Richard Hawley salute Duane Eddy, who died this week, and Johnnie revisits a chat with Eric Clapton to celebrate the legendary guitarist's UK tour.

As a pirate DJ in the 60's, Johnnie Walker's theme tune was a Duane Eddy classic, 'Because They're Young'. The two didn't finally meet until years later but struck up a firm friendship. To reflect the sad loss of Duane earlier this week, Johnnie chats to musician Richard Hawley about their mutual friend, and they share memories of his music.
Later in the programme, Johnnie looks back at an interview with guitar legend Eric Clapton.
The 1970鈥檚 were a period of great musical creativity and growth for Eric, despite his battles with drug and alcohol addiction.
After success in the '60s with The Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Cream and Blind Faith, he released six solo albums and collaborated on many more with the likes of Derek and the Dominoes and Delaney and Bonnie.
Eric is about to embark on a UK arena tour, starting on the 9th of May at Newcastle Arena and ending with a four night-stand at London鈥檚 Royal Albert Hall at the end of the month.
Also on the programme, another Jukebox entry from a lucky listener, plus stories from This Week In Music and a tribute to Moody Blues co-founder Mike Pinder, who recently died at the age of 82.
