The National Youth Orchestra and The National Youth Brass Band

The National Youth Orchestra and National Youth Brass Band perform Prokofiev's Symphony No 5, Dani Howard's Fanfare and Gavin Higgins' Concerto grosso for brass band and orchestra.

When music is used as a catalyst for change, it brings visceral optimism and the National Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Brass Band embody this energy in a concert that celebrates the power of music to spark hope and inspire commitment to new beginnings.

Brilliant young musicians from across the UK join forces for Gavin Higgins鈥檚 Concerto Grosso: the sounds of a full symphony orchestra collide with the sounds of a brass band and they send sparks flying!

The young musicians then embrace the grandeur of a brass fanfare by Dani Howard (current Resident Artist with the National Youth Orchestra) before performing Prokofiev鈥檚 extraordinary Symphony No 5. 鈥業 conceived of it as glorifying the grandeur of the human spirit,鈥� wrote Prokofiev about this symphony, which was premiered in January 1945.
