Sam Morton

Actor and director Sam Morton joins Lauren live in the studio to talk about the release of her first project as a musical artist.

Samantha Morton is known for her wide-ranging work as an actor and director, whose credits include The Serpent Queen, The Whale, The Messenger, Longford and her BAFTA-winning directorial debut The Unloved. This autumn she put out her first ever release as a musical artist - a collaboration with music producer, artist and boss of XL Recordings Richard Russell.

A lifelong music fan, Sam spoke to Lauren on 成人快手 Radio 4's Desert Island Discs in 2020. The episode was heard by Richard Russell, who was inspired to reach out to Sam over a shared love of one of her song selections. They began to work together and their collaboration resulted in a vast amount of music, the first of which - the double single 'Hunger Hill Road / Ghosts Are Dancing' - was released only on hand-stamped, 7" vinyl and limited to a run of just 300 copies.

Sam joins Lauren to talk about how the collaboration came about and what we can expect from the project in 2024.
