The impact of mass emigration of islanders during the 1920s can’t be understated. The most famous of the many ships which sailed from the Hebrides to the shores of the new world in Canada were the SS Marloch and the SS Metagama which departed in April, 1923. Trusadh travels from the Butt to Barra to learn about how communities are commemorating this emigration and looks at the impact this had on the various islands, some of which saw entire villages depart.
